With Christmas fast approaching and many members enjoying some well earned time off, this offers a great opportunity to play some golf! The friendly faces of all the Golf Shop staff look forward to welcoming you upon your next visit to the Club, whether it be a competition round, social play with some invited guests or visiting the driving range for a lesson or practice. New Golf Shop team members Lucy Guppy, Andrew Rollo (Golf Professional from Scotland) and junior member Arden Ashworth join Ric, Richard, Neil and myself in wishing you some great golf over the summer months.
We are very excited to announce a number of new products either into the shop or due to arrive very shortly. We have now on display a selection of Scotty Cameron putters in stock and are pleased to advise that ample supply of demo Scotty Cameron putters for the next few weeks that all members are welcome to try out! The world’s No 1 golf shoe Footjoy have recently released new models of shoes with our supply due in store shortly, remember we can get any colour, size or style of Footjoy shoe available in Australia for you so please have a look at our in store catalogue. Golf Tuition is a massive focus at Mount Lawley, with our fantastic practice facilities and team of Golf Professionals there is plenty of outlets to improve your game! A recent study in the UK found that golfers who have regular lessons not only get a greater enjoyment out of the game they are significantly more likely to continue playing. Our team of Golf Professionals who are able to coach now includes Ric Edwards who has successfully completed year two of his apprenticeship and is now looking after most of our junior classes. Ric is also Trackman/Flightscope qualified and is available for private lessons. Richard, Neil and Andrew are also available by appointment on certain days of the week.
As many members may be aware at the beginning of this year I was awarded the 2014 Western Australian PGA Teaching Professional of the year award. I’m very excited to announce that I have been selected as a nominee for the 2015 Australian PGA Teaching Professional of the Year this prestigious award will be held at the Greg Norman Medal prior to the Australian PGA Championship held on the Gold Coast on Tuesday, 1st December. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I have recently completed training in Aimpoint Express, this award winning green reading system used by some of the world’s top Golf Professionals can be easily learnt and used straight away on the golf course. I am the only Certified Aimpoint Express Instructor in W.A and one of only 6 in Australia with classes in Aimpoint Express only available at Mount Lawley Golf Club.
