ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Members,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Michelle Miller, after 8 years of dedicated service to the Club. Michelle has been an integral part of our team and has contributed immensely to our Club's growth and success.

Michelle has not only been a dedicated employee but also a friend and trusted figure to countless members and colleagues throughout the years. While we will certainly miss Michelle, we also wish her the very best as she begins this exciting new chapter in her life.

A few interesting facts on the role Michelle has played in enhancing and strengthening the Club's membership.

  • Since 2017 Michelle has introduced 805 new members to MLGC.
  • This equates to $1.84m in nomination fee revenue and $1.76m in annual subscription fee revenue.
  • Michelle has dealt with 1,377 membership category transfer requests over the past 7 years.

Michelle's role extends far beyond just membership with other key tasks including, but not limited to, the development of the Club's weekly e-newsletter, website and social media updates, design and production of the annual report, managing sponsorship, compiling the annual fixture book, and assisting with the numerous and varied Club events.

On behalf of all members and staff, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Michelle for everything she has done. We wish her all the happiness and relaxation that retirement brings, along with many new adventures and memorable moments.

Congratulations Michelle, you will always be part of the Mount Lawley Golf Club family.

Michelle's last day of employment will be Friday 28th February.

Warm regards,

Troy O'Hern | General Manager

Our course staff will commence the removal of the red brick path located to the left of the old first tee next Monday 6th January. Once removed, the area will be turfed and maintained as closely mown couch grass.

The final allotment of turf is due for delivery next Wednesday. This turf will be used to replace the red brick path, finish off the old 4th fairway, and behind the exposed aggregate path on the western end of the new driving range tee.

After the morning field tees off next Thursday 9th January, the grass area on the new driving range tee will be in use. The artificial mats will be removed, put into storage and they will only be used as and when required. We trust members will enjoy practicing from the new grass surface.

GRASS PRACTICE AREA

Opens this Thursday

The grassed are on the Practice Tee will open for use around mid morning on Thursday 9th January.  For those playing and practicing first thing in the morning, the mats will still be in use. The Grounds Staff will be removing those across the morning and we will go back to hitting from between the ropes on the grass tee.

ACCIDENTS HAPPEN

We strongly encourage members to report if they hit a ball over any boundary fence or into the carpark from the driving range. There are no implications for the member because it is accidental, but without a member notifying the Club we cannot claim through the Golf Australia Sportscover Member Personal Liability Insurance Policy. This policy provides coverage with no excess fee payable.

We had two examples over the weekend (see images above). One we were able to claim because the member notified the Golf Shop. The other, we could not confirm who hit the ball from the driving range into the carpark, so we are unable to claim.

Thank you for your assistance.
