Dress Code

Whilst it is acknowledged that evolving fashions make absolute guidelines impractical, our prime objective remains unchanged – that the standard of dress on the course and in the Clubhouse reflects the status and dignity of the Mount Lawley Golf Club.

All members, caddies and visitors to the Club are urged to dress in good taste at all time and so maintain the dignity of the game of golf and Club standards.  To obviate any embarrassment to themselves or others Members are asked to observe the following requirements that are regarded as the minimum acceptable standards.

MALE MEMBERS AND GUESTS

On Course, Practice Facilities, Clubhouse Surrounds and in the Sportsman’s Bar

  • Collared Shirt which must be tucked in at all times.
  • Shorts which should sit on or just above the knee. Three-quarter length pants are not acceptable.  Patch pockets are permitted, however cargo type pants are not permitted.
  • Trousers (Denim or tracksuit pants are not permitted).
  • Clothing bearing writing or advertising material other than small badges or logos is not permitted.
  • Socks may be long or short in length but are required to cover the shoe line at all times. Socks should be predominantly white in colour.
  • Socks should be worn at all times.
  • Shoes should be regulation golf shoes with soft spikes. Metal spikes are not permitted.
  • Any type of open shoe (Thong or Sandal) is not permitted at any time.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times.

Post Golf Presentations (excluding Honour Board Events)

  • Golf Attire (as defined above) is permitted in the Sportsman’s bar post golf.
  • Members are invited, but not required to shower and change for presentations.
  • Should a member suspect they may qualify to receive a trophy after a competition they are required to shower and change to be eligible for that trophy.
  • Denim is not permitted at post golf presentations
  • Shirts (Golf or Smart Casual) must be collared and tucked in if designed to do so
  • Golf shoes with soft spikes are permitted in the Sportsman’s Bar.
  • Socks may be long or short in length but are required to cover the shoe line at all times.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times.

Post Golf Presentations for Honour Board Events

These events are the premier events in the Club calendar which sees winner’s names being inscribed on the Club’s Honour Boards.  It is expected that all players shower and change for presentations as a courtesy to the sponsor and as a mark of respect for the event traditions.

  •  Shirts must be collared and tucked in to trousers or shorts unless designed to be worn out, sleeves may be rolled up to the forearms.
  • Singlets or shirts that do not cover the shoulder are not permitted.
  • Dress shorts are acceptable but should not be Cargo or Bombay style shorts or shorts with an elasticated or drawstring waist.

Casual Dining and Social Events

Sunday Breakfast, Monday & Friday Dinner & Other Social Events scheduled by the Club

Smart Casual Attire must be in keeping with acceptable contemporary standards, taking into account current fashion trends.

As a minimum the following must be observed:

  • Shirts must be tucked in to trousers or shorts unless designed to be worn out, sleeves may be rolled up to the forearms.
  • Singlets or shirts that do not cover the shoulder are not permitted.
  • Dress shorts are acceptable but should not be Cargo or Bombay style shorts or shorts with an elasticated or drawstring waist.
  • Denim trousers may be worn for casual dining and social functions only.
  • Clothing bearing writing or advertising material other than small badges or logos are not permitted.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times and may be acceptable street shoes worn with socks. Any types of open shoe (Thong or Sandal) are not permitted at any time.

LADY MEMBERS AND GUESTS

On Course, Practice Facilities, Clubhouse Surrounds and in the Sportsman’s Bar

  • Collared or High Neck Shirt which, if worn over the waistband, should be shaped, scalloped or banded to mid hip.
  • Tailored Trousers, ¾ pants, skirts, skorts or shorts are permitted but must include a belt if there is provision to do so (Denim or tracksuit pants are not permitted).
  • Clothing bearing writing or advertising material other than small badges or logos is not permitted
  • Socks may be long or short in length but are required to cover the shoe line at all times. Socks should be predominantly white in colour.
  • Shoes should be regulation golf shoes with soft spikes. Metal spikes are not permitted.

Post Golf Lunch and Presentation Lunches

  • Tuesdays are casual lunch days, served in the Sportsman’s Bar.
  • Thursdays during the season are designated ladies days and ladies are invited to shower and change for lunch in the dining room. This request is not mandatory and ladies may choose to wear golf attire.
  • Golf shoes are not permitted in the dining room
  • Tracksuits (drawstring waisted pants), Blue Denim, Cargo pants or shorts are not permitted in the Dining Room
  • Midriff tops are not permitted in the dining room
  • Sandshoes, joggers or rubber thongs are not permitted in the dining room

 Casual Dining and Social Events

  • Denim trousers and skirts are only permitted on the designated days stipulated above, or as determined by the social committee
  • Drawstring trousers or tracksuit pants are not permitted in the Clubhouse
  • Thongs are not permitted in the Clubhouse

 SHORT VISITS TO THE CLUB

When visiting the Club for a short period of time(5-10 minutes) to do business with the Golf Shop or Office, or to collect equipment from the Buggy Storage facility or locker rooms, it is permissible for members to be dressed in what could be reasonably be deemed ‘acceptable street attire’ when judged by contemporary community standards.  This dispensation does not extend to entry into the bar, lounge and bistro areas, nor to the course and practice areas.

Members should keep in mind the spirit of the Club’s dress rules and not abuse this privilege.
